According to DailyTech, a number of developers are reporting that the phone appears to be locked to a frame rate of 30 frames-per-second.

Though HTC has introduced the cap it is finding the system more choppier than a true 30FPS screen, perhaps due to the way the limit was coded. Games' creators are also facing a challenge when creating content. XDA Developers forum member mrono runs an app that tests screen performance.

Speculation abounds that the root of the issue actually has to do with the firmware of the phones affected. However, a similar problem droid hear Motorola is set to install the Android operating system 2.2. Whatever solution is certainly a strange situation when a phone less powerful as the HTC Hero can spit better than the reference value based on Snapdragon EVO 4G.
